Should I buy a socket AM2 + or AM3?
I wonder it takes is more future proof. I do not have much of an understanding of these two basins. I would like be looking at a triple core or quad-core Phenom processor. I understand that AM3 processors will fit in AM2 + sockets, but not setback. I'm planning on doing an upgrade of my system for a long time, so I want something that is future proof as much as possible. What would you recommend you? AM3 is worth it or I go with AM2 +? What are the advantages of both? thanks.
AM3 is the future. All new AMD CPUs will be of this type for the coming years. The shift from DDR2 to DDR3 is underway and only uses it AM3. The new AMD 790g chipset actually allows cold on underclocking in AM3. Low consumption energy. Great set of features. New II Athlon X2 and Phenom X2 II CPU. Check these babies out, you will be happy. My next system will be AM3. Good luck.
