Installation of 4 or 8 ohm car speakers?
I want to install a stereo in my car for the vintage 1974 Ford LTD. The thing is that the stereo I want to install is printed on the back "only for use with 8 ohm speakers, and has 2 speaker outputs. If, instead of installing 2 8ohm speakers I would like to install 4 4ohm speakers? Because I do not want to spoil the connecting stereo speakers with an impedance too low, but with 4 speakers, would evenly distribute the power at 4 4ohm speakers, because if you only had 2 8ohm speakers?
You could cable 4 at 4 ohm speakers in series to increase the impedance back to a level of security as 8 ohm car stereo of your time required. evenly distribute the power, but remember it has doubled the number of speakers, that the rated power and take half of it.
