What should I do about this car audio setup?
O.k. so here’s the deal, I just bought 2 10″ mtx subs and a Lanzar amp for 150$(yeah i think thats a good deal). I have a 2002 Ranger. I’m curious what i should do to protect my truck’s alternator and battery?? The amp has a max output of 900 watts, 250 rms x 2. I don’t want my lights to dim, wear out alt., battery or any of that nonsense, so… should I leave the system alone? is that enough to make a difference? Use a farad capacitor?(and how big of one?), I don’t know what route to take, any advice would be very helpful!! thanks
your better off buying a battery than a cap, you should be fine like it is though, if you do invest I would get a bigger alternator first, it will make your system louder and sound better right off the bat better than anything else, a cap or battery is just something else the alternator has to work more to charge, if you get a bigger alternator it wont have a prob keeping what you have now charged.
