A single beam transducer operates on a single frequency is usually around 200 kHz and has a cone angle anywhere in the 12 to 25 degrees in general. A dual beam transducer operates at two different frequencies one around 200 kHz with 12 to 25degree angle and another in the range of 50 to 100 kHz with a cone angle of 60 degrees. The low-frequency beam is good for tracking downriggers, trolling with a large dispersion, but is prone to interference from background noise.
